Ashlie Hilton, BA
Master in Counseling Intern
No one exists in a vacuum. We are all part of intricate networks with our friends, family, coworkers, and acquaintances. It is important to understand the entire system and contexts that each person is involved in to truly understand where things are breaking down and how to best move forward to more productive solutions. I work with socially and culturally diverse clients with sensitivity and awareness. Each of us comes from our own life circumstances and experiences that shape how we see and experience the world.
It can be incredibly hard and vulnerable to reach out for help personally as well as in our most intimate relationships. I approach each client with openness and respect. To lean in, seek help, and do something different takes courage, but also opens the door to new possibilities. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, families, and groups and have experience working with betrayal trauma, infidelity, compulsive pornography use or addiction, and shame. I value practices that are evidence-based and have training in Gottman methods.
I take a holistic approach to healing that addresses physical, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, and psychological aspects for deeper and lasting change. I strive to foster a judgement-free environment with compassion and empathy. I believe personal development is a key component of change and growth. Healing is possible and you are worth it!
On a personal note, I am the mother of 6 children, 4 boys and 2 girls. My husband and I keep busy being involved in their lives and activities. I have many hobbies and love to be creative in my free time. I am currently pursuing my master’s degree to become a marriage and family therapist.
